Maria Antonieta Collins is a Mexican-born journalist, author, and TV personality. She was born on August 23, 1952, in Mexico City. She began her journalism career in the 1970s, working for various newspapers and magazines in Mexico. In 1987, she joined Univision, the Spanish-language television network based in the United States, as a television reporter and anchor.
Collins covered a wide range of news stories, including politics, crime, and immigration issues. She was known for her tough reporting style and her willingness to confront powerful politicians and officials. In 1995, she became the host of the popular investigative journalism program "Primer Impacto" on Univision.
Collins has also written several books, including "Memorias de un Incendio" and "Detrás de la Máscara". Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including several Emmys and the National Hispanic Media Coalition's Lifetime Achievement Award.
In addition to her journalism career, Collins is also an activist for women's rights and social justice. She has been involved in various charitable organizations, including the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, the American Cancer Society, and the Special Olympics.
